Breast lift

We understand how disturbing it is for you to pour your sagging breasts into your bra every morning and watch as they fall the moment you remove your lingerie every night. No matter how much dieting have you been doing, how long hours have you been spending in the gym, all the creams and the pills that you have tried gone waste? How have you been watching helplessly your breasts migrating to south?

The answer to your problem is Breast Lift.

Breast lift or mastopexy is used to reshape and lift sagging breasts (ptosis) and give them a better shape, resulting in a firmer and more uplifted appearance.

The many reasons for the sagging of the breasts include age, pregnancy, weight fluctuation, breast-feeding etc.

There are many reasons why many women choose to undergo a breast lift.

  • Some women have adequate size breasts, but they are not well positioned.
  • Some women lack substance or firmness in their breasts.
  • Some have a condition where one breast is firm and well positioned, while the other is not.
Breast lift surgery can be performed alone, or in conjunction with Breast augmentation.

FAQ's

What can I expect from Breast lift surgery?
  • Better shape and lifting of hanging breasts
  • Repositioning of areola at proper position
  • Reduction in the size of the areola, if it is too large.
  • Correction of asymmetries between both breasts.

What should I not expect from breast lift plastic surgery?

Breast lift surgery neither enhances nor provides volume to your breasts. If you only want to add volume please read breast implants. As with all cosmetic surgery, realistic expectations and emotional stability are important.

Qualified surgeons make assessments of breast lift procedures based on several factors. The degree of ptosis (sagging), nipple position, the amount of excess skin, size of the areola, skin elasticity and breast volume can all effect breast lift procedures and outcome possibilities. Lifting breast enhancements do not include the insertion of implants, but reshape the breast and lift skin and tissues to create a more elevated, taut appearance.

Am I a good Candidate for Breast lift surgery?

If you are over eighteen years of age, possess a skin type that has a degree of elasticity, are not pregnant or breast feeding, and are in good physical and mental health, you may be a good candidate for breast lift surgery.

How would the breast lift surgery be performed?

The patient and surgeon will determine the most appropriate breast lift technique based on various factors such as the desired outcome, the patient's pre-operative state and the surgeon's preference.

Breast lift techniques typically fall into two categories:
  • Concentric mastopexy or  "doughnut" mastopexy
This breast lift surgery technique is frequently used to treat women with smaller and less severely drooping breasts. It requires fewer surgical incisions and in some cases, may be performed using a local anesthesia with a sedative instead of general anesthesia.

Concentric circles are drawn and cut around the areola. This concentric shaped skin surrounding the areola is surgically removed and the nipple and areola are moved upwards. Following the movement of the nipple and areola, the outer skin surrounding the areola is sutured into place.

  • Anchor shaped mastopexy.
This breast lift surgery technique is designed to treat women with larger, more severely drooping and sagging breasts. This particular breast lift technique derives its name from the type of surgical lines the surgeon incorporates in determining where to make the surgical incisions. The cosmetic surgeon draws a "key-hole" shape directly above the nipple and the areola. At the bottom of this drawing, the surgeon then draws an "anchor shape" - thus the name - extending from the right to the left side of the breast. Following the implementation of this "anchor" drawing, the breast skin in the upper region of the "anchor" is removed along with any excess breast tissue. Following the removal of this skin and tissue, the nipple and the areola are repositioned towards the lower portion of the previously drawn "key-hole" shape. Next, the breast skin is sutured around the areola, on a vertical plane, down to the chest and side-to-side along the newly created lower fold of the "lifted" breast.

Consultation with your surgeon will help you to determine which technique will be used to address your specific needs. Depending on your doctor and the surgical technique, the procedure can take from one to five hours.

What can I expect after the surgery?

Results of breast lift surgery are immediate; however, final results will not be definite until swelling is reduced completely. Once the swelling and discoloration subside, you should be very pleased with your results.

Over time, the long-term results of breast lift surgery will express themselves as surgical scars fade and the breasts settle into their modified state, look, contour, etc.

How long would the recovery time be after breast lift and when can I resume my activities?

A minor degree of numbness following breast lift surgery is normal and may persist. You would experience soreness for two to four days following breast lift surgery. There would be some pain in the first forty-eight hours after the surgery but that is treatable with a wide variety of pain medications.

You can return to work in a week with elastic bandages and surgical bra to protect dressings for the first several post-surgery days.

You should avoid vigorous activity for approximately four to six weeks following the surgery.

Can I combine breast lift surgery with other treatments?

You can combine breast enlargement with breast uplift surgery, to give a fuller, firmer effect. As breast uplift is popular with women who have had children, you may like to consider a tummy tuck or liposuction to help rid yourself of post-childbirth weight. Or, maybe you are looking to achieve a younger look, and would like to explore procedures that can counter an ageing face ?

If you would like to improve your skin’s texture and appearance then you may like to explore non-surgical anti-ageing procedures such as microdermabrasion and dermal fillers.
