Am I a good Candidate for surgery?
If you're physically and mentally healthy, 18 years of age or older, not currently pregnant or nursing and have realistic expectations, and having any of the following concerns, you are a good candidate for the surgery.
How would the breast reduction surgery be performed?
There are various techniques for breast reduction surgery and vary with the patient and the skill and comfort level of surgeon with a particular technique. Typically, the procedure involves what is called an anchor incision that circles the areola and nipple and extends down from the centre, and follows the natural crease of the breast.
The surgeon then removes the fat, tissue and skin and move the nipple and areola to its new position on the breast. Usually nipples and areola remain attached to their blood vessels and nerves; however in some cases of very large breasts, the nipple area may have to be removed and grafted onto the breast in a higher position, which will result in loss of sensation in the nipple tissue. The surgeon then reshapes the skin to the contour of the breast.
You can expect to have smaller, firmer breasts with nipples that are in line with the middle of their upper arms. This means you will no longer experience back pain as a result of large breasts, and can enjoy wearing outfits that show off your new, proportionate figure in fashionable and revealing outfits!
Of all plastic surgery procedures, breast reduction results in the quickest body-image changes. You will be rid of the physical discomfort of the excess weight, your clothes will fit better, and you will look more proportioned.
How long will be the recovery time after the Breast reduction surgery and when can I resume my work?
You would be bandaged in a surgical elastic bandage and surgical bra over top of gauze dressings after the surgery. You would be able to move around in a day or two when bandages and drainage tubes are removed
There will be some discomfort for a few days, and your breasts may feel tender for a few weeks after the procedure. Expect some loss of feeling in the breasts and nipple area to last for a few weeks, as well as some fluid drainage and crusting around the sutures. Aching and random pain is normal as your breasts heal.
Your surgeon will give you detailed instruction concerning your recovery. You can resume light activities after 2-3 weeks. Do not to wear underwired bras for at least six weeks after surgery, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 6 weeks.![]() |

The results of breast reduction surgery are permanent. The reduced breasts will not grow again. Your breasts will look better for a long time and you will feel more comfortable and relieved. In spite of the resulting scars, when most women evaluate the outcome, they feel that the benefits obtained far outweigh the negative aspects.
As breast reduction is popular with women who have had children, you may like to consider a tummy tuck or liposuction to help rid yourself of post-childbirth weight. Or, maybe you are looking to achieve a younger look, and would like to explore procedures that can counter an ageing face?
If you would like to improve your skin’s texture and appearance then you may like to explore non-surgical anti-ageing procedures such as microdermabrasion and dermal fillers.
