My name is Margaret and this is how I changed my life with the gastric bypass. I was over weight and miserable for years. After trying various liquid diet programs, weight loss shots, pills, and packaged diet food plans, I was finally at the end of my rope. I could no longer fit into Movie Theater seats, I could no longer shop for normal size clothing, I had avoided all family functions, and I would always have an excuse to never to go out with relatives or friends.
I started to develop physical problems from being so over weight. No matter what I tried I just could not keep the weight off. I did some research and decided to go through with weight loss procedure. I started looking for cost effective options and zeroed down to going to India. But which surgeon, which hospital, even there are so many consultants and medical tourism companies. Which one to choose?
 
But only after a couple of interactions with a few companies, it wasn’t difficult to pick the most professional among them- Indicure was undoubtedly the best. They answered all my queries up to my satisfaction and very promptly.

My surgery date was on Jan 20th, 2007. My pre-surgery weight was 260 pounds. To those of you who think this was the easy way out for me need to think again. After surgery, you do not diet. You have to change the way you think and eat for the rest of your life. This is a lifetime endeavor and it will not be over in just 6 months or so. I had eaten healthy and exercised every day since surgery. In 11 months, I had lost 130 pounds and I went from the big lady store to Nordstrom’s.

This surgery has strengthened my self-esteem. I am proud of my success and I can't thank Indicure and the support group meetings enough for helping me focus on the important things in my life. I continued with the same program of eating well and watching my weight.

Weight Loss Surgery

I was recently contacted by Indicure to send an old and latest picture of mine, one before and one after the surgery, and my experiences with the dieting and life after weight loss surgery. If anything I have experienced can help someone else that will be a thrill in it self.

As I look through the pictures in my photo diary, I run a gamut of emotions of shame of how I use to look and the excitement of actually enjoying having my photo taken now. I had less than a half dozen pictures to choose from for my “before” picture as I never wanted my photo taken.

When I decided to undergo Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band surgery, I had reached a point where my weight was influencing just about every aspect of my life. Although I was not obese my entire life I did struggle daily with my obsession with food and body image.

Amassing an array of weight related disorders high blood pressure, sleep apnea, asthma, shortness of breath, and water retention, my physician suggested I get the bariatric surgery done. I knew very little about weight loss surgery but I was so desperate to change I would have tried anything.  I contacted Indicure and was convinced that they were the best to help with my problem. I underwent Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band surgery in India.

I cannot say it was a smooth ride. The food withdrawal during the first 6 mos., especially the first 6 weeks was brutal. I did not adhere to the rules at first. I cheated, I pushed it, I vomited and finally, I learned. Not overnight, not even in six months. It took a year for me to realize when you are full you are full.

The weight loss was continuous. Not fast, but constant. Obviously, besides the physical changes there were mental and emotional ones to deal with also. As much as I “prepared” myself for the changes that would occur with my weight loss I could not help but be amazed at other peoples’ reactions.

Overall, I am very blessed to have had this opportunity. If I did not have this surgery my life would be limited if I had a life at all. My medical disorders have cleared up. I can now do things that I always wanted to do. Last year I coached my daughter in softball. How exciting it is to do active things with her and try to set a better, healthier example by doing and not telling. I can shop anywhere. I can wear any style. I can sit in a movie theatre and airplane seat comfortably. I don’t worry about breaking other people’s furniture when I sit down. I like my body, my life and most of all I like myself.

Tummy Tuck and Breast reduction

I came across Indicure on Internet and, because I had been thinking about getting a tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery, checked out the company on the web. Indicure is truly an amazing company, thorough professionals in their work.   They answered all my questions very promptly and up to my satisfaction. It is now two months later and I am just recently back from India after having a wonderful vacation and receiving a great "new look."

The plastic surgeon has the highest credentials and performed a fine job with kindness and concern for my safety and comfort. Indicure made sure I had good accommodations, a good personal driver and even someone to look in on me following surgery.

Following my three day stay in the hospital, I continued my recuperation at a good hotel for four nights and then moved again to a resort hotel right on the beach for five days before flying back home.

While one might think because the cost of living is so much lower than in Las Vegas., that the standards are too, but this is not so at all. The hotels were fine and equivalent to what you would find at a nice hotel here, but at a fraction of the cost. The people of India are the friendliest people I have ever met and I felt as safe there as I ever have anywhere. For me, a real bonus was that so many speak English! That makes everything so easy! India is a long way to go, but I don't have any regrets about going there for my surgery. I got to see a country I have never seen before, meet some wonderful people and have a great cosmetic surgery that I could not have afforded here in the USA.

India has always fascinated me. I always wanted to go and see the land of “Unity and Diversity”. Ayurveda and Yoga is what I have been wanted to experience for so many years. When I started searching on the internet, I came to know about low cost of medical treatment, which definitely came as a bonus.

Having been home a few days now I can get my thoughts together and give my heartfelt thanks for all the help and encouragement I got from Indicure.
